Corinthians not to score in the first half looks like an interesting option based on their attacking difficulties throughout the Brazilian Série A campaign, their position near the relegation zone and the possibility of a cautious opening period against Vitória.

Corinthians have experienced a difficult season, struggling to maintain consistent performances and collect enough points to move comfortably away from the relegation positions.

Their attacking problems have been one of the factors behind their disappointing league position. The team have frequently struggled to convert possession into clear goalscoring opportunities, making matches against direct competitors particularly challenging.

The previous meeting between Corinthians and Vitória provides an interesting statistical reference. The two teams played out a 0-0 draw in the first half of the 2026 Brazilian Série A season.

That encounter demonstrated how both sides can struggle to create decisive attacking opportunities against one another. Neither team found the net throughout the match, meaning Corinthians not to score in the first half was successful.

The importance of their upcoming encounter could also influence the tactical approach. Both clubs have been involved in the battle near the bottom of the table, making defensive organisation and avoiding early mistakes particularly important.

Corinthians may attempt to control possession at home, but controlling the ball does not necessarily translate into creating high-quality opportunities.

Vitória could choose to defend compactly and limit the spaces available between their defensive lines, potentially making it difficult for Corinthians to establish an early advantage.

However, these tactical possibilities are not substitutes for verified first-half statistics. Corinthians' overall attacking difficulties do not establish the exact percentage of matches in which they have failed to score before the interval.

The selection would be successful with any half-time scoreline in which Corinthians have not scored, including 0-0, 0-1 or 0-2.

Overall assessment: Corinthians' difficult attacking season and their previous goalless meeting with Vitória provide some support for the selection. The importance of the match could also encourage a cautious beginning. However, the available evidence does not establish a reliable first-half failure-to-score rate, and home advantage remains a significant risk for the bet.
