A half-time draw looks like an interesting option based on Arsenal's defensive organisation, Nottingham Forest's recent attacking difficulties and the possibility of a relatively cautious opening period at the City Ground.

Arsenal have demonstrated strong defensive performances in several recent competitive matches. Their results include a 2-0 away victory against Sunderland, a 1-0 away victory against Napoli in the Champions League and a 2-1 victory against Chelsea.

These results highlight Arsenal's ability to control matches defensively and restrict opposition scoring opportunities, particularly when they establish possession and prevent opponents from creating dangerous chances.

Nottingham Forest, meanwhile, have struggled to maintain consistent attacking performances during the opening stages of the Premier League campaign.

Their recent results include a 3-1 defeat against Crystal Palace, a 1-0 home defeat against Coventry City, a 2-1 away victory against Aston Villa and a 0-0 home draw against Tottenham Hotspur.

These performances demonstrate considerable inconsistency in their attacking production. Forest failed to score against both Coventry and Tottenham in their two most recent completed home league matches, highlighting their difficulties breaking down organised opposition at the City Ground.

Their attacking struggles could be particularly relevant against Arsenal, who have demonstrated an ability to keep clean sheets against competitive opponents.

The previous meetings between the two clubs provide further encouragement for a cautious encounter. Their January 2026 Premier League meeting finished 0-0, demonstrating that Forest are capable of frustrating Arsenal defensively over an entire match.

An external statistical model estimates the probability of a half-time draw at approximately 43.6%, making it the most likely individual half-time result in that projection.

This percentage corresponds to theoretical fair odds of approximately 2.29, although it remains a model estimate rather than a verified historical success rate.

The tactical circumstances could also support a cautious beginning. Arsenal may look to establish control through possession and patient attacking combinations, while Nottingham Forest could prioritise defensive organisation and counterattacking opportunities.

If Forest manage to remain compact and limit Arsenal's opportunities during the opening stages, the match could remain level until the interval.

However, Arsenal's attacking quality represents the main concern. Their ability to create opportunities against defensive opponents means an early away goal remains a realistic possibility.

A half-time scoreline of 0-0 or 1-1 would satisfy the selection, regardless of the eventual result.
