Worrying stats: Manchester United concedes too many goals.

Worrying stats: Manchester United concedes too many goals.
It's the third consecutive game that United has conceded at least three goals.

Scoring 3 goals in a match, one would expect it to be enough to win a football game, but United conceded 4 goals against Bayern midweek and had to return to England with 0 points. It's now the third consecutive game where they have conceded at least 3 goals, and that hasn't happened since 1978 for United.

United’s last 3 games:
◉ Bayern vs. Man United 4-3
◉ Man United vs. Brighton 1-3
◉ Arsenal vs. Man United 3-1

Only 2 teams in the Premier League have conceded more goals than United's 10, and those are Wolverhampton (11) and Burnley (12). These are unacceptable statistics for a team with ambitions of competing at the top, and when you concede 4 goals against Bayern, alarm bells should start ringing. Andre Onana has been brought in as David De Gea's successor, and he hasn't had a good start to his United career, conceding 14 goals in 6 matches. The defense seemed stable last season, but this season it looks very shaky. Yes, there are injuries, but the players starting in the lineup are still Lisandro Martinez, Victor Lindelöf, and Casemiro in the defensive midfield – three players with enough experience for this not to happen.

Looking at the last 5 games United has played, they have conceded at least 2 goals in each, which is likely the reason for their 4 losses in the first 6 matches of this season. United hasn't had such a poor start, with 4 losses in the first 6 games, since 1986, making it one of the worst starts in the club's history.

Now it's Burnley in Saturday's Premier League match, and there needs to be better control in defense. Whether Ten Hag makes changes in the defense remains to be seen, but Harry Maguire should be in contention for a starting spot alongside Lisandro Martinez. There were also some positive signs against Bayern, and those should be carried into the match against Burnley because 3 points are essential. Otherwise, the crisis will truly start to loom large for Ten Hag and United.
