Who will replace Benzema at Real Madrid?
Benzema leaves behind a great legacy in Madrid, but who will take over?
It came as a big surprise to everyone when Benzema announced his departure from Real Madrid, and it now puts the club's management under tremendous pressure during the summer as they must go out and find a new striker who can contribute as Benzema did. Benzema was not only a world-class player, but also a club icon who was important for the dressing room and the atmosphere in Madrid, so a great challenge awaits.
We have looked at three players who are said to be on Carlo Ancelotti's wish list:
Kai Havertz
Kai Havertz is mentioned as a possible player for Real Madrid, perhaps not the obvious goal scorer when you look at his goal statistics for Chelsea, but he is a skilled playmaker, just like Benzema. He is only 23 years old, so if his game can be enhanced to score more goals, he would be an exciting prospect in Madrid, as he is a player who can be with the club for many years.
Havertz stats for Chelsea in Premier League 2022/23:
Games: 35
Goals: 7
Assists: 1
Shots: 71
Shots on target: 33

Victor Osimhen
Osimhen has set Serie A on fire for Napoli this year, and here we have a striker with goals in his boots. However, it is doubtful whether Napoli will let go of Osimhen this summer, and the question remains whether he would fit in at Madrid. Osimhen is more of a box striker who is dangerous in the penalty area and may not participate as much in the build-up play, which is what Ancelotti looks for in a striker.
Osimhen’s stats for Napoli in Serie A 2022/23:
Games: 32
Goals: 26
Assists: 4
Shots: 135
Shots on target: 55
Chances created: 34
Harry Kane
If one wants a new Benzema, Harry Kane appears to be the most obvious choice as it provides both a goal scorer and a player who can participate in the build-up play. However, the feasibility of a transfer is more uncertain. Tottenham has previously expressed a preference for not selling Kane to a direct competitor. On the other hand, Harry Kane is rumored to be interested in staying in the Premier League, with United being mentioned as a possible destination, as Kane aims to chase the record for being the highest-scoring player in the Premier League. Nevertheless, it would be difficult for any player to say no to Real Madrid if they come calling.
Kane’s stats for Tottenham in Premier League 2022/23:
Games: 38
Goals: 30
Assists: 3
Shots: 130
Shots on target: 63
Chances created: 57
Real Madrid is set to have a busy transfer window as they need to bring in several players. Jude Bellingham is also reported to be on his way, so it could turn out to be one of the most expensive transfer windows in the club's history.
