The highest rated players in Ligue 1 this season: Messi, Mbappe
Ligue 1 is home to some of the best players in Europe right now and we’ve looked into the highest-performing players this season.

We’ve ranked the top 10 players according to their average Whoscored match rating this season. 

10. Benjamin Andre (Lille)
The 32-year-old defensive midfielder has been the anchor of Lille's team this season. His defensive stats are among the league's best where he has an average of 4.2 tackles per game and 2.1 clearances per game. 

From his position, he has managed to score 1 goal and make 2 assists, which makes him number 10 on this list with an average match rating of 7.38. 

9. Jonathan David (Lille) 
Jonathan David has been Lille’s most creative outlet this season and is therefore placed nine on the list. 

David has produced 3 assists this season and an average of 1.4 key passes per game which is more than any player in Lille. He has also managed to score 9 goals in 13 games which make him the highest rated Lille player this season with an average match rating of 7.44. 

8. Dango Ouattara (Lorient)
Lorient have been one of the surprises of the season so far and the 20-year-old Ouattara has been excellent. 

With 5 goals and 5 assists and an average of 2.8 shots per game he is rated 8th on the list with an average match rating of 7.45. 
If he continues the season like this he is undoubtedly a player who will attract interest from bigger clubs. 

7. Amine Gouiri (Rennes)
Rennes striker Gouiri has 6 goals and 3 assists in 11 games in Ligue 1 this season. 
The 22-year-old French striker has an impressive 2.8 shots per game and an average 1.3 key passes per game which is among the highest in Ligue 1.  

He has a match rating of 7.49. 

6. Enzo Le Fee (Lorient)
The 22-year-old attacking midfielder has been the most creative in Lorient's midfield this season, with an average of 2.8 key passes and 1.9 dribbles per game he is one of the best to setting up his teammates. 
He has 2 goals and 2 assists in 13 games and these stats give him an average match rating of 7.50. 

5. Alexandre Lacazette (Lyon)
Lacazette has found his goal scoring form again after his move back to Lyon from Arsenal this summer. The 31-year-old striker is among those in the league who come up with the most chances and with an average of 3.4 shots per game there is a reason why he has 8 goals this season. 

Lacazette has scored a goal every 141 minutes and have a match rating of 7.55.

4. Martin Terrier (Rennes)
Terrier is a guarantor of goals and last season he scored an impressive 21 goals. He has continued his form this season and has 8 goals and 3 assists in Ligue 1 so far.

He has also scored 2 goals and 1 assist in the Europa League and must undoubtedly be a player who is of interest to bigger clubs in Europe. 

He has an average match rating of 7.78. 

3. Kylian Mbappe (PSG)
Not surprisingly, it is the front trio from PSG that is highest on the list, as they have all smashed Ligue 1 this year with goals and assists. 

Mbappe has the highest average of shots per game in the league (4.6 shots per game).
He has impressive 11 goals and 2 assists in the league so far and a match rating of 7.94. 

2. Neymar (PSG)
Neymar looked set for the exit door at PSG six months ago with owner team-mate Kylian Mbappe reportedly unhappy about playing alongside the 30-year-old for much longer.

But the fulcrum of Brazil’s attack has responded in the best possible manner with 10 goals and 8 assists and a match rating of 7.96. 

1.Lionel Messi (PSG) 
35-year-old Messi has put all critics to shame and shown that he is still one of the world's best players. Great performances in Ligue 1 and the Champions League have meant that he has the highest match rating score of impressive 8.74. 

He has 7 goals and 10 assists in 12 games.
