Preview: Fiorentina vs. Inter Milan – Team news and prediction
The winner of the Coppa Italia 2022/23 will be decided tonight when Fiorentina and Inter meet at the Stadio Olimpico.
Inter are the defending champions of the Coppa Italia and will now attempt to regain the trophy against six-time winners Fiorentina. Inter has previously won the tournament 8 times and can secure their 9th title, while also preparing for the second final they will play with the Champions League final against Manchester City looming in June. Fiorentina also has a European final to play as they will face West Ham on June 7th. Therefore, both Inter and Fiorentina can use the Coppa Italia final as a taste of what awaits them in near future.
Fiorentina is currently in 11th place in Serie A and has nothing to play for in the remaining matches, while Inter is positioned at number 4, just 1 point ahead, ensuring Champions League participation next season. A trophy this season would be a success for both teams, and therefore, both teams will come out hungry and motivated for the match.

Team news:
In the weekend's defeat against Napoli, Simeone Inzaghi chose to rest several key players, but it is expected that the team will start with their strongest lineup in today's final. The team captain, Samir Handanovic, is expected to start instead of Andre Onana, as he has been the goalkeeper in the Coppa Italia matches. Milan Skriniar and Henrikh Mkhitaryan are both out with long-term injuries and are therefore not part of the squad.
Inter’s expected lineup:
Handanovic; Darmian, Acerbi, Bastoni; Dumfries, Barella, Brozovic, Calhanoglu, Dimarco; Martinez, Dzeko
Salvatore Sirigu is currently the only injury concern for Fiorentina. Several players were also rested in the weekend's Serie A match against Torino, so there are fresh players ready to face Inter.
Fioretina's expected lineup:
Terracciano; Dodo, Milenkovic, Igor, Biraghi; Bonaventura, Amrabat, Castrovilli; Ikone, Cabral, Gonzalez.
Player profiles:
It could potentially be a tactical and closely contested match, so we believe individual actions will determine the outcome of this game. Lautaro Martinez from Inter has had a fantastic season and is brimming with confidence. With his 25 goals in all competitions, he could very well be the man to secure the trophy for Inter. Fiorentina has had a mixed season, and it's difficult to pinpoint a standout player. Amrabat is an important figure in midfield but hasn't been able to maintain his form since the World Cup. Nicolas Gonzalez on the left wing has shown danger with his 12 goals in all competitions and his ability to consistently challenge his opponents, which can provide Fiorentina with the creativity needed to break through Inter's solid defense.
Prediction:
We expect a tight match, and it could potentially be a tactical battle with few clear-cut chances, as both teams will be cautious about opening up. We anticipate a physical contest, and it might take extra time to determine the winner.
We therefore predict a draw to odds 3.40
