Is Darwin Nunez a flop or success in Liverpool?

The young striker has often been called a flop signing by the media after his poor start to the season. Lack of goals and a stupid red card which got him suspended for 3 matches did not make it any easier for his reputation.

Unpredictability, loose touches, and ragged shooting have been mentioned as the things Nunez has accomplished so far. He is a completely different player than Sadio Mane, as his main strength is running deep behind the defense and less participation in the game.

You can clearly see that he has some technical qualities and his physical strength should suit the Premier League perfect. He has a natural goal scoring instinct, he shoots on target as soon there is the slightest chance. 
His fighting spirit and unpredictable style of play seem to have won the hearts of the Liverpool fans. His name is being sung at Anfield and with upward performances in the last few games, the belief that their record signing will be a success has grown.

This actually shows that Nunez has played well recently and have a higher goal average that Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus and Tottenham striker Heung-min Son.

His expected goals xG is at 4.91 in the Premier League and with 3 goals so far, he is lower than expected, however, this also includes the fact that he was suspended for 3 matches after his red card.

Nunez is a real striker who finishes when he can get to it, which can also be seen in his shots per game;

Future in Liverpool?

It is clear that Liverpool had expected more from Nunez's side in relation to the price tag he is running around with, but it is also reported from the club's side that he will need some time to get used to the way of playing football in Liverpool.

Klopp has been a little unsure of how he should be used on the field, as he is used both as a striker and a winger, but there is no doubt that he is best as a striker if you make use of the skills he has with his speed and physical qualities.

"The potential is incredible. The attitude is really good. He is a real worker” is the things Klopp are saying about Nunez. It indicates that the coach has a lot of trust in him, and Nunez has also shown the things he speaks about on the field, and that is why it is hard to call him the biggest flop this summer. 

With his recent performances and an approved goal average and Klopp's way of working with new players, the future looks brighter for Darwin Nunez compared to two months ago.
If he can maintain the level he is showing now, he will actually end the season with a good goal average.

That's why you can't say Nunez is a flop already, give him the season before judging him.
