Gignac le Snack

Gignac le Snack
It's been years since we last heard of one of the most unfluencial french players in recent European history.

Gignac was once one of the most revered French players in European football, most notably being part of the elite Marseille team from 2012-2015, but what has he been up to since then?

Gignac joined Tigres UANL in 2015 and made an immediate impact, scoring 13 goals in his first season with the club. In the 2016 Apertura season, he continued his impressive form, scoring 11 goals in 17 appearances. Tigres finished the season in second place and reached the playoffs, but were knocked out in the quarter-finals.

The following year, Gignac had an even more impressive season. He scored 24 goals in 45 appearances across all competitions, helping Tigres win both the 2017 Clausura and the 2017 Apertura. In the Clausura, Gignac scored 7 goals in 11 appearances, including two goals in the final against Chivas Guadalajara, which Tigres won 2-1. In the Apertura, Gignac scored 10 goals in 17 appearances, including a hat-trick against Pumas UNAM.

In the 2019 Clausura, Gignac scored 9 goals in 17 appearances, but Tigres were again knocked out in the quarter-finals, this time by Monterrey. In the Apertura, Gignac had an even better season, scoring 14 goals in 18 appearances. Tigres reached the final, but lost to Monterrey in a penalty shootout.
In the 2021 Clausura, Gignac scored 6 goals in 14 appearances, but Tigres were knocked out in the quarter-finals by Atlas. In the Apertura, Gignac scored 10 goals in 18 appearances, helping Tigres reach the final. In the final, Gignac scored the winning goal in extra time, as Tigres defeated Club León 2-1 to win the championship.

Last season, Gignac scored 18 for Tigres. This season though, he is set to beat that mark, with 16 goals to his name in Liga MX so far this season. With 21 points, they are currently second in the league trailing behind Monterrey with 25 points. Gignac has yet to win the league championship, either Apertuna or Clausura since he joined the Mexican side, but that might change soon.

Just remember he is still putting up impressive games with a consistent amount of goals each season, all at 37 years young.
In conclusion, Andre Pierre Gignac has been a key player for Tigres UANL since joining the club in 2015. He has scored a total of 189 goals in 337 appearances across all competitions, and has helped the club win four Liga MX championships. Gignac is widely regarded as one of the best players in Mexican football, and his performances for Tigres have earned him a place in the hearts of the club's fans.
