Euro weekend round-up: FA Cup, AC Milan last minutes drama and Barcelona top of the league

Euro weekend round-up: FA Cup, AC Milan last minutes drama and Barcelona top of the league
Plenty happened this weekend across Europe and we’ve dived into the stats to pick out some of the best talking points.

FC Barcelona extend their lead in La Liga after Real Madrid's defeat:

In a tactical match, Villarreal managed to win 2-1 over Real Madrid at home at the Estadio de la Ceramica. In a high-tempo tactical match, penalty kicks were the highlight of this match as both teams got one that they scored on. However, Villarreal had, before this, taken a 1-0 lead and Real Madrid never manage to put any real pressure on Villarreal, so they had to go back to Madrid with a defeat.

FC Barcelona managed to win 1-0 on a difficult away match against Atletico Madrid and they now have a lead of 3 points in the league.
Lewandowski is out with a suspension, so Ousmane Dembele had to step up more in character, which he did when he was the match's only goal scorer.
Atletico had several great chances, but good defensive play and good saves ensured Barcelona a clean sheet and 3 very important points. In the final minutes of the evening, both Ferran Torres and Stefan Savic received a red card.

FA Cup weekend:

As usual, there were several surprises this FA Cup weekend. Newcastle lost 2-1 to Sheffield Wednesday while Aston Villa lost 2-1 at home to the league two team from Stevenage. A great achievement for Stevenage while Aston Villa and Unai Emery have to look themselves in the eye before the next game.

Liverpool put up a strong showing in Saturday's game against Wolverhampton and disappointed once again when they now have to start a new game after 2-2. Wolverhampton started with several of their reserves and they must therefore be very satisfied with the result.

Manchester City ended Sunday by beating Chelsea 4-0. There was only 1 team on the field in the first half and Chelsea must be happy that it was only 3-0 at half time.
Chelsea and Graham Potter are in a big crisis and they need to win some football matches.

Last minute drama as Roma got 1 point in Milan:

AC Milan looked like a sure winner of the match against Roma, but on goals by Ibanez and Abraham in 87 and 93 min respectively, Mourinho's boys managed to secure 1 point.
Juventus continue their winning streak without conceding a goal when they beat Udinese 1-0 at home and they are now in 2nd place in Serie A.

Napoli got back on the winning streak when they won 2-0 against Sampdoria. Osimhen and Elmas were the match's scorers and you are now 7 points behind Juventus and AC Milan, who are the closest pursuers.
