England's top 10 in Europe for goals plus assists per 90 minutes

England's top 10 in Europe for goals plus assists per 90 minutes
England has a lot of great talent playing around Europe. To showcase the very best, we have listed 15 players in the top 10 for most goal + assists per 90 minutes by English players in Europe's Big Five leagues.

English players don’t all play in England. The vast majority do, but for some that don’t, they have found success in other countries around Europe.

Here we have a list of 15 players that comprise the top 10 for the most goals plus assists per 90 minutes from English players playing in Europe’s Big Five leagues.

1. Reece James – 0.84

Reece James is the surprise list-topper here. The Chelsea man is one of two defenders on the list, but the other one features much further down.

James has been very impressive this year, scoring five goals and assisting six. He has been a big contributor to Chelsea pushing for the league title this year, and that’s why it was a big loss for them when he goes away injured for some time, as he has done a couple times this year.

He has played 17 of Chelsea’s 26 league games played, with 15 starts, and that is a big reason for his inflated goal + assist rate.

2. Mason Mount & Jamie Vardy – 0.77

As second Chelsea star in as many entries, Mason Mount has also been strong this year with seven goals and six assists. But again, similar to James, he hasn’t played every game. He has played 22 games, in which he has started 17.

Jamie Vardy is a similar story. He is usually one of the Premier League’s top scorers, as he is this season too. He has 10 goals and two assists this year but has played 18 games to Leicester's 25 games total, and he has 16 starts.

3. Emile Smith Rowe – 0.72

Emile Smith Rowe has been outstanding this year for Arsenal since being given the number 10 shirt. He was emerging as a good talent; hence he was given the honour of the number 10, and he has really lived up to it so far.

While injuries have slightly plagued him, too, Smith Rowe has managed to play the majority of the season. He’s played in 21 of Arsenal’s 25 games, with 15 starts, and with that game time he has scored nine goals and got two assists.

4. Raheem Sterling & Tammy Abraham – 0.63

Manchester City have been their usual high-flying self throughout this year. A few hiccups here and there but nothing too major to see them knocked off the top spot.

Raheem Sterling is their joint top scorer with Riyad Mahrez this season, both on 10 goals each. Sterling also adds one assist to his total goal contribution tally.

Tammy Abraham is the first name on this list to not be playing in the Premier League.

Tammy got a loan move from Chelsea to AS Roma at the start of the season, and it has really paid off for him.

He has played and started in 27 of Roma’s 28 games played this season, and he has bagged himself 13 goals and three assists, making him the top scorer on this list.

5. Marcus Rashford – 0.62

Marcus Rashford has had a very mixed season. Manchester United have struggled with consistency and any sort of team identity throughout the year, and it is affecting the players.

Rashford has also had injuries issues this year but has also been prone to some bad spells on the pitch. As such, he has played 18 games this season with only nine starts. He is the only player on this list to not have played at least 1,000 minutes so far this year, with him only playing 870 minutes.

He has four goals and two assists for the season, and he is currently on pace to have the worst season he’s had since breaking through into Man United’s first team.

6.Bukayo Saka & Jarrod Bowen – 0.61

Bukayo Saka brushed off the pain from the devastating Euro 2020 final loss to come back to Arsenal and help propel them to a possible Champions League place finish this season.

He has featured in every game played for Arsenal so far, with 23 starts along the way. And he has treated the Gunners to eight goals and five assists.

Jarrod Bowen has had a big breakthrough this season. He has been arguably West Ham’s best and most important player and will surely be rewarded with an England call-up in the next internationals for his performances.

He has played in every West ham game so far this season, so that's 28 games played, with 27 stars. He has been impressive with goal contributions, too, with eight goals and eight assists. That is a joint-most on this list 16 goals contributed.

7. Phil Foden & Danny Ings – 0.59

Another product of Man City’s greatness, Phil Foden has been strong in the games he’s played this year, solidifying himself as one of the best young talents in the world.

He’s played in 20 games this campaign with 17 starts. He has seven goals and three assists.

After forcing his way out of Southampton to Aston Villa in the summer, Danny Ings hasn’t quite been able to carry on his scoring ways with Villa like he was able to with the Saints.

He has five goals and four assists in 17 starts this year, 20 games played in total.

8. James Maddison & Steven Mavididi – 0.58

James Maddison is the Leicester conductor in the middle. He has a great ability to lead the attack with the way he plays. Only this year, he and the side have struggled for form.

Nevertheless, Maddison has still scored seven goals and bagged three assists in 24 games, with 18 starts.

Steven Mavididi is a name that most people won’t know. That’s because he is plying his trade outside of England as the star man for Montpellier in the French Ligue 1.

He has been there for the last two seasons now, but this year is proving to be his most prolific.

He has played 21 games, in which he has started 20, and has gotten himself eight goals and three assists along the way.

9. Trent Alexander-Arnold – 0.55

Trent is one of Liverpool’s most important players, as he provides so much for the Reds down the right-hand side. He has played and started in 24 of Liverpool’s 27 league games so far this season.

In his 24 games played, he has scored two goals and assisted 11. He is the only player on this list in double-digits for assists, and he is also top of the Premier League for most assists this season.

10. Harvey Barnes – 0.52

Harvey Barnes over the last couple of years has proven to be Leicester’s unlikely hero at times. Last season, he scored nine goals in 25 appearances.

This season unfortunately has not been as prolific for him. With Leicester thoroughly underperforming throughout the campaign, Harvey Barnes has found himself with only three goals and five assists in 20 games this season, with 17 starts.
