Alisson or Ederson as the starting goalkeeper for Brazil?
There is fierce competition between the goalkeepers of Liverpool and Manchester City.
Brazil is fortunate to have two of the world's best goalkeepers, but it's also a significant luxury problem since only one of them can play. It seems that national team coach Fernando Diniz is having a hard time choosing his first-choice goalkeeper. Two games ago against Uruguay, Ederson had a less-than-stellar performance, while in the latest match against Colombia, Alisson had a good game. Both matches ended in defeat, so it will be interesting to see in tomorrow's game against Argentina who will be chosen to guard the goal.
We have taken a closer look at the statistics of the two goalkeepers in the Premier League this season to assess who is currently in better form.
Alisson in the Premier League 2023/24:
◉ 12 games
◉ 83.6% pass success
◉ 80 % saves ratio
◉ 40 saves
◉ 4 clean sheets
Ederson in the Premier League 2023/24:
◉ 11 games
◉ 82.9% pass success
◉ 63.3% saves ratio
◉ 19 saves
◉ 4 clean sheets
Alisson has had a busier season than Ederson. Liverpool has allowed more shots than Manchester City, so Alisson has made more saves, and some of these saves have been crucial and important for Liverpool, earning them points. While both goalkeepers are of similar quality, it seems that Alisson is slightly ahead of Ederson in current form. However, Fernando Diniz may have a different perspective, so it will be interesting to see whom he chooses when facing the world champions from Argentina.
