THE BROOKLYN NETS SHOT AN ALL TIME LOW THREE POINTERS
The Nets made 3-23 three pointers as they lost to a tanking Spurs team
The Brooklyn Nets consist of some of the best shooters in the league, including; Joe Harris, Yuta Watanabe, Seth Curry and so on. These players can shoot from far away and are usually the go to option if you see them open in the corner. Long range shooters are crucial for comebacks, running up the score and even more when the clock has more seconds left and the losing team has to make a 3.
Of course these are all specific situations, normally in a regular season game, the team works together to find shots outside and inside the three point line. One can continue passing the ball or a player might go iso and dribble one on one to the basket. But this time around, the Nets were not a complete team, in fact they were missing their star players in KD and Kyrie.
The Nets are currently not in a good position overall, even if they are top of the league, yesterday's loss sent them back to 4th seed. The Nets got this reputation of toxicity, where the star players don't get along and think they rule the team, including management. Since 2021, the Nets lost James Harden to the Sixers in exchange for Seth Curry as a sharpshooter and Ben Simmons in defense, and fortunately for them it paid off this very season.
Unfortunately the toxicity hasn't gone anywhere as Kyrie refuses to play consistently and it's annoying KD. When KD first joined the Nets everything seemed all fun and dandy, even the trio of Harden Kyrie and KD seemed to get along. Steve Nash was the head coach upon KD's demand but took a turn for the worse at the beginning of the season, as the Nets fired him a little over a year after joining the team. The Nets were back on track with the arrival of Jacque Vaughn who switched the narrative as Vaughn and KD brought the Nets to the 3rd seed in the conference, which they managed to maintain until last night.
Let's not forget, the Nets are notorious for their toxicity, and it didn't leave. On November 13 2022, KD called out his entire team for being "trash players", in fact the star player was irritated of carrying the Nets on his back as Kyrie wouldn't play enough games. At the same time, the Nets were trying to build up to the top of the conference with role players throughout the team. Let's be honest, besides KD and sometimes Kyrie the Nets wouldn't be where they are now, and last night's game shows it all. The Nets came back to Brooklyn after a loss against the San Antonio Spurs who are actively trying to tank, as the Nets were missing both KD and Kyrie.
But that's the whole story at the end, the back and forth with KD and the whole franchise, either he is confronting the players, Kyrie, the coaches and staff, or he is mad at the owner. But KD has got his reasons, even if the ownership adjusts to KD, they cannot seem to get it right, and little by little the team is disintegrating under our eyes. The team chemistry is so bad that without Kevin Durant or KYrie Irving on the team, the players cannot actively shoot the ball. Even the current most accurate shooter in the league, Seth Curry, shot 1-7.
I believe that KD had a good chance to build a championship team around the Nets, I believe he still has the chance to win another ring, but I strongly disbelieve it will happen in Brooklyn. As KD is growing older with each passing season, the best solution for him would be to say goodbye to the Nets and instead of building his own team, he should do what he does best by joining an existing super team.
