The best NBA performances this season

The best NBA performances this season
from Jokic, Embiid, Curry, Lillard, and so on, we have to treated to an amazing season of basketball

Since Steph Curry dropped 50 last night, we thought it would be a good idea to revisit some of the best performances this season.

Every season we're treated with breathtaking games from some of the players in the league, whether they are driven by narrative or by sheer will to tear down defences, we will rank the top 5 productions so far.

5. Nikola Jokic

A couple weeks prior to Christmas, we were treated to a Nuggets vs Wizards game that ended 141-128 for a dominant Denver side.

Currently averaging a triple double, on that night Jokic displayed his unbelievably high efficiency as he put up:

Box score vs. Washington:
43 points
14 rebounds
8 assists
5 steals
Wed 17-20 FG

It's no surprise Nikola Jokic is so efficient, as being one of the best currently in the game, and the ebay passing big man in NBA history, he earns a 5th spot on this list for his performance.

4. Damian Lillard

Lillard was out for the most part at the beginning of the season, but a healthy return to Portland made us reconsider the point guard's position in the MVP race.

Currently averaging 32 points, 5 rebounds, 7 assists and almost a steal, Lillard is no stranger to high scoring games. On February 26, the Trail Blazers took on the Houston Rockets where Damian Lillard cemented himself in NBA history.

Box score vs. Houston:
71 points
6 rebounds
6 assists
On 58% FG

That night, Lillard became the 6th player in NBA history to put up 70+ points.

3. Joel Embiid

A little over a month after the regular season started, the Sixers took on the Utah Jazz in a 105-98 game in Philadelphia's favor. Although the Jazz were one of the most dominant teams at this point of the season, the team struggled to find the back of the net due to Embiid's defensive dominance.

Currently sitting as the scoring leader, Embiid is averaging 33.5 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assists, 1 steal and 1.7 blocks.

That night Joel put up:
59 points
11 rebounds
8 assists
7 blocks and a steal!
All on 68% FG

That night Joel almost put up a quadruple double, giving him the 3rd spot on this list.

2. Luka Doncic

Luka Doncic was dominating the league from October to January, putting high scoring and high efficiency games on almost a daily basis. During that time it wasn't unusual to see him score high 30, even high 40 points, in addition to 8+ rebounds and assists.

Since the Mavs were carried by Luka, a lot of pressure was carried on the Slovenian national shoulders, but Doncic delivered even at times when it didn't seem like he could.

A couple of days prior to new years eve, Dallas took on the New York Knicks at the Garden, where they trailed by 9 points with under a minute left of playing time. Usually, players will give up since that amount of time isn't enough to catch up with 9 points, but Luka made it happen.

With more seconds on the line, the Mavs were only down by 3 and Luka was a the free throw line, and even if he drained both free throws they would still be down by one with the Knicks in possession of the ball. Luka made the first FT, and proceeded to intentionally miss by aiming for the rim, got the rebound, and made the final shot that sent the game to over time.

The Mavs went on to win the game 126-121 thanks to his performance.

Here's what Doncic put up that night:
60 points
21 rebounds
10 assists
2 steals and a block
On 67% FG

No player before this managed to record a 60, 20, 10 game, giving Luka a well deserved 2nd spot on the list.

1. Donovan Mitchell

Of course we cannot talk about the best NBA season performances without talking about Mitchell.

Donovan Mitchell moved to Cleveland in the off season, hoping to find success with a young up and coming team, such as the Cavs. A move to the Cavs proved to be a wise option for Spida, fitting in the roster and giving Cleveland a superstar in their starting rotation.

Since then, the Cavs have been on a rampage of a season, having defensive towers in Jarrett Allen and Evan Mobley, as well as a promising Darius Garland who seems to only get better with time. The team was just fit for Donovan Mitchell, and it showed.

On a fateful night in early January, less than a week after witnessing Luka Doncic's amazing performance vs the Knicks, Donovan Mitchell was seen to mark history in a game vs Chicago.

The game was tied all the way through, with lots of back and forth against a stacked Bulls team consisting of Zach LaVine and DeMar DeRozan. But in the dying instances of the game, the Bulls had a 2 point lead, which was turned around with a last second lay up from Donovan Mitchell to send it to OT.

By the end of the game, Donovan Mitchell put up:
71 points
8 rebounds
11 assists
1 block
On 65% FG

Simply incredible, Mitchell secured a spot in the all-time NBA conversation with a performance for the ages. With a 70 point double double, almost a triple double, Spida managed to do what was thought of as unthinkable, giving him the number 1 spot on this list.
