NBA TRADE DEADLINE - PLAYERS WHO NEED TO MOVE ON
The trade deadline is approaching and teams looking to make the playoffs will be making this trade deadline one of the biggest ones in history.
At this point in the league, both the eastern and western conferences are looking very even, with the west having a 5.5 games difference between the 13th and 3rd seed, and 6.5 games separating the 12th and 5th seed, leaving lots of space for teams to make the playins. Since so many teams still have a chance at a playoffs spot, the trade deadline starts to look like the only way out.
Many players, young and old, good or bad, have had enough of their losing teams and are looking for a last chance to win a ring.
Here is a list of players that could be part of the trade deadline;
Mike Conley : Currently playing for the Jazz, Mike Conley is getting older and looking for a chance to be on a championship winning team. Multiple teams have shown interest in the player, as he is a solid offensive option with a defensive aspect that we haven't seen from him since his prime days. The Clippers are the team most likely to pick him up as they are in dire need of a point guard over Reggie Jackson.
Jae Crowder : As a veteran for a young Suns team, the Suns have now been looking for a good long-term replacement for the aging player, who hasn't been playing many minutes so far this season. Atlanta has shown interest in Crowder, as they are in need of a veteran on their roster. The Hawks haven't been performing as well in the last 2 seasons after making the eastern conference finals in 2021, and since having been eliminated in the first round last playoffs, and not looking like they will make a playoff appearance this postseason. The Hawks have players to trade and assets to exchange with other teams in the NBA so this trade might actually take place.
Chris Paul: Another Phoenix player, Chris Paul also plays the role of veteran on his team, but a more valuable one as he is a floor general, can finish at the rim, and shoot the ball. Unfortunately, the Suns came close to a championship in 2021, but lost to a better Bucks squad. Chris Paul is still looking to get his ring, but as he's aging, the Suns are looking to find a player that will fit their younger squad. If chris Paul gets traded this deadline, we could see him going on a team like the Clippers or the Mavs, where both teams are in dire need of help from all star players.
Eric Gordon : Finally we have the oldest player on the Rocket, Eric Gordon, who has been consistent for Houston in the last couple of seasons, but has been quoted seeing no growth in the roster and franchise alike. Eric Gordoon is now in his second year waiting to be traded, after all of his team mates where he finds himself to be the only player over 27 years, being 34 himself. The Rockets are currently building a team around Jalen Green, Jabbari Smith and Alperen Sengun, but are not growing as a team, according to the veteran. Having 15 points off of Erici Gordon is not something a losing team can afford, but the lack of wins means tanking becomes their best solution. With Victor Wembanyama on the line, the Rockets can hope to rebuild around a young squad in the future, but for now the ideal solution for Eric Gordon would be a trade towards a playoff team. For example, the Bucks have had their eye on Eric Gordon, a player who can come off the bench and give them 7-8 points on a nightly basis could be a good deal for Milwaukee. In return the Rockets could use another veteran in Serge Ibaka, who has grown tired of setting screens for an already offensive team, along with being a great old head for young rising teams.
