2023 Draft Prediction

2023 Draft Prediction
2023 mock draft with odds

The 2023 NBA draft is one, if not THE most anticipated NBA draft since Lebron james in 2003. The arrival of the 7 foot 5 frenchman, Victor Wembanyama, has had the sports media world in shambles since going viral over a year ago, as many were anticipating not the 2022 draft, but the 2023 draft.

In this article we will be listing the top 5 prospects of the NBA draft and the odds of which teams pick them.

1. San Antonio Spurs

This one is easy to tell as the number 1 pick will be Victor Wembanyama from the Metropolitans 92 in the French basketball league.

The odds for this one are currently 1.01, meaning there's a 99.9% chance that he is selected first.

2. Charlotte Hornets

This pick is largely expected to go to Brandon Miller of the Alabama Crimson Tide in the NCAA.

Here the Hornets could go either direction between Brandon Miller and G League Ignite player Scoot Henderson.

If the Hornets value both players' equality, they might opt for a player based on positionality. Scoot Henderson is a 6 foot 2 guard with an impressive wingspan, but having already a star guard in Lamelo Ball they might choose Brandon Miller instead.

Brandon Miller is a 6 foot 9 wing that the Hornets need since losing Miles Bridges. He is a high scoring player who can shoot from all over the court and who can defend both on the perimeter and the paint.

The odds of Brandon Miller going 2nd is 1.71

3. Portland Trail Blazers

For this pick we see the Trail Blazers taking Amen Thompson of . The team is already filled with guards, both stars and up and comers in Damian Lillard and Anfernee Simons. Amen Thompson can play both a guard position as well as a wing. With a 6 foot 7 frame, he seems like the obvious option for Portland instead of Scoot Henderson.

The odds of Amen Thompson going 3rd are 6.00

4. Houston Rockets

Falling at the 4th pick, we see the Rockets picking Scoot Henderson of the G League Ignite team. Formerly an ignite player, Jalen Green was selected 2nd overall in the 2021 NBA draft. Scoot Henderson would fit the Rockets team perfectly, adding depth to their bench, as well as a supporting guard for Jalen Green as opposed to Kevin Porter Jr.

Additionally, the Rockets recently signed Ime Udoka as their new head coach, as well as being in talks with the Sixers to bring back James Harden to Houston. Both these additions to the team, as well as drafting Scoot Henderson could be much more beneficial for the Rockets organization.

The odds of Scoot Henderson going 4th are 41.00

5. Detroit Pistons

Ausar Thompson, Amen's twin brother followed the same steps as his brother, choosing to go to the Overtime Elite League rather than playing college basketball.

Ausar and Amen Thompson share similar traits, and are basically the same player sharing the same skills at the same body frame.

Ausar Thompson would be a great addition to the Pistons who are in need of quality players to fill out the missing pieces. Playing next to Jalen Duren and Jaden Ivey, he would fit great in the young roster.

The odds of Ausar Thompson going 5th are 3.75
